Consumer stocks were mostly higher in Tuesday’s pre-market trade.

In sector news, the outcome of Procter & Gamble’s ( PG ) proxy fight with Trian Fund Management’s Nelson Peltz is too close to call, Reuters reported, citing unnamed people who have estimates of a preliminary voting tally. Peltz has called for the company to reorganize and wants a seat on the board. The report said Trian and Procter & Gamble have collectively spent more than an estimated $100 million on mailings, phone calls and advertisements to get investors to vote for their side. PG shares were up 0.8%.
